Diwali 2014 Nail Art In 6 Easy Steps

I am going to show you step by step how I did my Diwali nails for this year.

Step 1:
I filed my nails and painted on a clear base coat to protect my nails. I am going to be using red, so don't want to stain them.

Step 2:
I painted my thumb and ring finger with gold nail varnish and the other three with red.

Step 3:
Repeat step 2 - two coats are better than one as the colour is more defined.

Step 4:
I used a thin brush and red acrylic paint to create swirly patterns on the gold nails. I was inspired by henna designs and used swirls, dots and small triangles. I did the same on the red nails, but the gold acrylic paint did not show up clearly. To overcome this, I used white paint.

Step 5:
When the white paint was dry on the red nails, I went over it in gold paint to make sure it showed up clearly.

Step 6:
When the paint was all dry I finished off the nails with a clear top coat.

And there you have them!
